the last twenty-five years advising the leading corporations of the world on ways to improve. To do this, he has researched the relationship between people and information technology-- focusing on what makes computers difficult for people to use. Joel's insights into the future of technology ignite his audiences
worldwide. His books on engineering and manufacturing automation have been translated into Japanese and other languages. His columns in CAE, Machine Design, Examiner.com, and other

In 1992, North Carolina State University honored Joel by presenting him
